funny things

O.k. where else can you buy a bottle of soda, but have to take it to go in a plastic sandwich bag? Because all bottles are returnable here, unless you drink it right at the store, you must have them put it in a little baggie to drink from. I find it sort of funny to be walking down the street holding a bag of colored liquid and drinking out of it....
O.k. so I was suppose to spend all day cooking. I need to make a cake for tomorrow nights celebration and Janeth wanted me to make lasagna for today at lunch. Luis never put in the new stove yesterday while we were gone however, and again today did not do it....so Janeth came home and was expecting lasgana and we had more of the same food we ate yesterday. So her and I and Marisol took out the other stove, and then have been putting the new one in. Now that all the hard work is done Luis wants to help....ha ha....
O.k. so on a more serious note, I went to Jujan on Thursday. We drove about 570 KM within 36 hours. We left Thursday morning and stopped in Guayaquil for a quick lunch and picked up some friends and then off to Jujan. I am gald we picked up Pedro and Angelica because we really didnt know where we were going and they did. It has been two years since I went to Jujan and on that trip I was in the bed of a pickup truck...lol....so things were a bit different. I did remember however the roas that should have taken us to the family I was looking for. However they have so much water right now you cant walk to the house you have to drive on these very very very narrow things they call roads, but are not really.....it was a bit scary because we were not sure if Janeth car would stay on the road or go off on one side! Well we asked at a house where the family of Luis Garcia lived and they sort of told us. We turned this corner and all the sudden I see a lady with her hands over her face, her daughter behind her with a surprised look and I say STOP there they are!!!! Next thing I know little Luis is running next to the car..(granted we were only going about 5 miles an hour)....I got out as fast as I could and he jumped right into my arms! He is now 12. He has grown height wise but that is all...he is about as tall as his mom(which is maybe 4 ft). They were so excited to see me. However I didnt see papa Luis, and I asked the mom where he was...she said in the house. This seemed odd to me because he is always happy to see me. However when we go to the door he was in the kitchen and was sort of cold towards all of us and did not even give me the normal hug and kiss on the cheek. I knew something was not right. Pedro and Janeth started talking to him while I gave out gifts to the kids and got to see my God Daughter for the first time!!!! During this time they were all having a conversation I could not understand. Then I saw Papa Luis crying, and I realized his life was not good. I was able to decipher that he had left the church and was very hard in the heart. I listened, and figured out what was going on. God is so great, because it does not matter what language you speak when you are doing the work of God you understand all you need. Well needless to say we were there for quiet some time. Pedro said we were going to pray, so we surrounded Alexi and Luis and we prayed. Afterward I asked Janeth to please let me speak in English and she would translate for me so I made sure what I had to say would be understood. I talked to him about the past year in my life and some of the choices I made. By now we were all crying, not a dry eye in the place. However, it helped him to know that God would take him back and is waiting for him to come back to him with open arms. I gave him a ring I had that was too big for me. It was silver and had footprints on it. I always wore it on my thumb when I wore it to remind me God was with me whenever I needed him. So I gave this to Papa Luis and asked him to wear it to remind him daily that God is always with him and he just needs to return and open his life back up. He told me he promised he would start to work on his walk with God again. It was a great trip. It was a long drive to go and see a family for only one or two hours, but it was well worth it. It is one of those trips I will never forget.
We spent Thursday night in Guayaquil and Friday we babysat Janeths new granddaughter Rebeca who is just 3 months old. It was a good time. We did not arrive back in Portoviejo until 7 last night.
Today I stayed home while Janeth had class in Chone, I was suppose to be cooking, but that didnt happen. Instead I supervised the painting of the name onto the front of the church. We hired somone to do this. I told Janeth I thought it should be done now that we have 3 years with this church and all is set. Tomorrow is the grand celebration of the Independence of the Church from the Mother church. So tomorrow at 7 till 9 we will be in service. Please keep me in your prayers. I am giving my whole testimony again and it is not easy because 1 I cry when I read it in Spanish, but 2 it is hard for me to pronounce all of the words....
O.k. I better get going and see how the stove is doing..so I can start cooking soon.
Thanks for all your prayers...please keep them coming.
Gods Blessings!
